Your plane had hardly landed when the phone started ringing, and it hasn't stopped.  Unfortunately the first few to get through were press, and you had no idea that they weren't calling to do another congratulatory retrospective on your success.  Once you caught the nature of the questions you pulled the old "bad reception" line and dumped the calls.  Then came a desperate hunt to find somebody to talk to at the office - you've been away for so long it seems like half the PAs have changed and nobody recognises you - fancy that!  Finally you found someone on the takeovers team.  While you were onstage overseas talking about your worldbeating advances in technology, some company that you have never heard of announced a breakthrough that could be light years ahead, and announced a deal with your intended acquisition target!  How could you have not seen this coming?
