It's amazing what a difference a different point of view can make. Eight months ago you were all tearing your hair out, waiting for the next set of reports to come out and then getting severe indigestion trying to digest them. Fortunately the new Board member suggested that you all throw the regular reports out the window for the time being and focus instead on the key outcomes that you needed if the business was going to survive. Then the CEO chimed in and said that if she was going to stick around and take the pain, she wanted to know that the business was going to thrive, not just survive. There was a stunned silence while you realised that your best belief about the future meant that you avoided a funeral. Then you all agreed that it just wasn't good enough, and that you wanted much more for all the stakeholders and for your legacy.
