It's 6:00 and you are leaving the office to go to the post mortem "reunion" with some of the ex Board and executive team members. It's been a year since the company was dismantled and all of the component businesses sold to new owners, to the great disappointment of the creditors and shareholders. It wasn't a great outcome for most of you either, with several of you still unemployed or having lost other Board appointments. And the big frustration is that a couple of the divisions have taken off like rockets under their new ownership. What did these new owners see that you all missed? And they had pretty much the same middle management team working for them too - why are these people suddenly able to pull off things that they couldn't even think about last year?
